Google+
With the new small yet unnecessary changes that the popular social networking site Facebook has just added to the home page, more people have been switching over to the recently unheard of Google+. Each day on my Facebook newsfeed, I see more and more statuses and links to and about Google+. Google originated as a search engine years ago, and apparantly is now evolving into a more expansive network with this new addition.
Which leads me to wonder, what exactly is Google+? To me, I feel like it's a gigantic mix between Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and even Skype. Many people feel like this social network is the new biggest thing, but personally I don't see the point. Is Google trying to become something like a monopoly by combining all of the popular social networking sites into one? Good to know that Google is turning into the Wal-Mart of the internet world. Each of the other social networking sites have their own little quirks that make them what they are, and Google+ is just a copy combination of them all. I doubt this trend will last very long.

I have never really been into social networking sites for one, but think of all the problems it could cause! I recall girls coming to middle school crying about getting dumped over MySpace (yeah, showing some age). More recently, FB has even created drama in our high school. When you take all of these different communications and mesh them all together it spells out one thing: drama. Google is already making us sound dumber and dumber. Whether we use it for research or try to cheat a translation for a paper, we make ourselves seem foolish or plain "out there" when linked to an unreliable site. Imagine what will become of Google if it gets social and in our daily lives. O:

The more social networking sites that are being made, the more drama there is created. Google is just going to be another site that builds and destroys others lives. And i dont think Facebook has anything to worry about, the true, loyal "Facebookers" will stay. Google is just trying to "fit in" or something, Google's popular enough. Most people only see Google as a search engine and theyre form of "Facebook" will probably fail. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
