Review of the Revenge pilot
The first episode of the new show Revenge had recently aired this past week. The setting is in Long Islad NYC, more specifically the Hamptons. With stunning ocean shots and a good amount of chilling background music, the show was an instant attention-grabber. Our protagonist in this series is Amanda Clarke, who goes by the alias Emily Thorne. Amanda took on this alias because everything she cared about was taken away from her at a young age while she was vacationing in, yes, the Hamptons. Now 20-some years later, she has returned to claim her revenge, and she'll go to lengths far greater than anyone can imagine to do so. Thanks to a hefty trust fund set up for her by her father, she rents out the same house that she was vacationing in when her life was shattered. The house is next to an even more extravagent mansion owned by the powerful and wealthy Victoria Grayson, who instantly becomes slighly suspicious of the new girl in town. Mainly because Emily has her eyes on Victoria's son, Daniel. Whether 'Revenge' will last after the first season is still up in the air, but personally it wasn't necessarily as cliched as I figured it would be. I'm actually rather intrigued to see how this will play out, and will probably continue watching even after the the first three shows assigned to me.
